CGI, lookdev
and rendering.

Look development, materials and lighting in Cinema 4D, rendered with Octane or Redshift for still images, animation and VFX.

Lookdev & rendering

Give materials and light a clear direction.

The same model can feel precise, soft, heavy or almost weightless depending on how it is lit and framed. Look development establishes those choices: the response of a surface, the shape of a reflection and the relationship between an object and its surroundings.

I create CGI for product imagery, animated sequences, environments and abstract visuals. The work can focus on a set of materials or a lighting setup, or continue through scene preparation, rendering and compositing. The aim is an image with a clear visual direction that also works within the production requirements.

My 3D work is based in Cinema 4D with Octane or Redshift as the renderer. The choice depends on the project and any existing scene or studio requirements. After Effects and Photoshop support compositing and image finishing.

Look development

Material language, surface response and lighting direction built around the brief and reference, not a generic preset.

Lighting & rendering

Controlled studio or environmental lighting and production-ready rendering in Octane or Redshift.

Simulation & detail

Procedural systems and simulation where motion, surface or atmosphere needs another layer of realism or design.

Look development

Find the look before rendering the whole sequence.

References are useful when they describe a specific quality: a broad highlight, a translucent edge, a restrained colour palette or the way a surface changes in shadow. I use those observations to develop lighting and material tests that can be reviewed together.

For animation, the look also has to survive a moving camera and changing reflections. A material that works in one frame may need adjustment across the sequence. Testing representative angles early helps avoid surprises once the final renders begin.

Assets and outputs

Prepare the scene for the way the images will be used.

Existing models and assets are welcome. I review their scale, geometry, surface assignments and textures to establish what is ready for rendering and what needs preparation. Assets from other applications can usually move through common exchange formats; the right handoff depends on what needs to remain editable.

For final delivery, we can agree on stills or image sequences, resolution, framing and any separate passes needed for compositing. Send the available assets, visual references and output requirements so the scope covers both the desired look and the work required to build it.
